The government of Pakistan has decided to allow import of tomatoes from Iran for a period of one month to help slow down the increase in prices of the vegetable in domestic market.

“Yes, we have decided to allow import of tomatoes from Iran,” MNFS Federal Secretary Muhammad Hashim Popalzai said.

Importers will be allowed to source tomatoes from Iran for three to four weeks for sale in the domestic market. The government has set a deadline of Dec 13 for the imports.
