The Road Haulage Association has discovered that a new ruling on lorry height has stealthily crept its way into draft legislation in Brussels.  The RHA consider that the proposed maximum lorry height of 4 Metres could cause significant damage to the road freight industry in the UK, as well as jeopardising C02 emission targets.  Freight forwarders and logiistics operators in the UK often use trailers higher than 4 metres, which allows them to use double-deckers.  They are routinely used for palletized traffic which means that effectively they can carry two trailer loads on a single trailer of the same length.

The RHA will strongly oppose the proposal if it is developed any further.
