Japan intends to streamline policy coordination between government agencies in an attempt to expand food exports.

Exports of agricultural, forestry and fishery products and processed food from Japan are expected to reach 1 trillion yen ($9 billion) by 2020. The government wants to increase this to 5 trillion yen by 2030.

Public awareness of food safety is growing which makes it more difficult for Japanese exporters.
