The government is urging farming businesses to prepare for changes to animal imports and exports in the event of a ‘no-deal’ Brexit.
Defra has published new guidance to ensure import and export trade in animals, animal products, food and feed can continue.
The guidance aims to minimise disruption for businesses, while maintaining the UK’s biosecurity, food safety and animal welfare standards.
To continue exports to the EU the UK will need to be registered as a third country if there is ‘no deal.’

The government says it is ‘confident’ that the third country listing will be in place before the UK leaves the EU.
