The USA and China have opened talks on their trade dispute as Beijing reported its January exports recovered despite President Donald Trump’s import tariff increases.

The USA said that talks could help decide whether the fight over China’s technology ambitions is continued by going ahead with more penalty import duties on $200 billion worth of Chinese imports.

The economy of China grew at its slowest pace in three-decades last year, adding to pressure on their leaders to reach a settlement.

Both sides have expressed optimism but have not released any details.
