Wine exports from Australia rose by 10% in value in 2018, in spite of a reduction in the overall number of bottles shipped. Australian wine exports to Northeast Asia, mainly to China, rose by 19% in 2018 to A$1.23bn.

Overall Australian wine exports rose by 10% in value globally versus 2017. Bottled wine exports rose by 7% in value during the year in spite of a 3% decline in the quantity of bottles shipped.
There seems to be a trend towards premium wines as the value of exports above $10-a-litre rose by 22% in 2018.

The Australian wine industry has been more reliant on China in recent years, and improved exports to China may also reflect the benefits of a free trade deal signed between Australia and China at the end of 2015.
