Freight forwarders in Finland are suffering from a massive drop in volumes of freight to and from Russia.  Volumes in Russian transit traffic and forest products have drastically reduced over last year, leaving many forwarders struggling to find enough work for their employees and equipment.  Imports of timber from Russia to factories in Finland have reduced by about 80%, partly because of lower demand and partly because of new Russian taxes on timber exports.  Statistics suggest that Finnish export and transit cargo to Russia is down about 46%, and many forwarding and logistics companies have had to take cost-saving measures and make redundancies.
