Avocado exports from Mexico for 2018-19 are forecast to be close to 1 million metric tons. Exports have increased over the past few years, and the depreciation of the peso against the dollar has helped international sales.
The U.S. is the top export market for Mexico, importing between 74% and 79% of total Mexican exports. About 6% of exports go to Japan and 7% to Canada.

About forty-five packing companies in Michoacán are eligible to export avocados to the U.S. Other producing states have concentrated on exports to Japan, Canada, France and Spain.
