Russian Railways intends to triple trans-Russia rail freight by 2030.  To this end, they have started by trying out a new experimental container train carrying household electronic good from Nakhodka-Vostochny in the Far East of Russia to Moscow.  The train operators have synchronised driver and locomotive changes, and increased running speed so that the train achieves 1400 km per day.  This enables the train to cover the whole route three days faster than by the regular service.  The long-term plan is to use the Trans- Siberian for containerised freight, and use another line for transporting bulk materials.
