As China banned the import of plastic trash this year, there has been a marked increase of imports to Taiwan.
The CEO of a large Taiwanese Food company has asked why Taiwan should import garbage, especially since it could become a source of pollution for residents’ health and quality of life, and for the environment.
He also questioned Taiwan’ policy which bans the felling of trees, so it has to import waste paper as an expensive raw material for its paper and pulp industry.
