The British International Freight Assocation, which represents freight and shipping companies in the UK and lobbies on their behalf, broadly welcomed the Government’s approval of a third runway at Heathrow.  From the freight industry’s point of view, there has long been a shortage of capacity at Heathrow, which has caused delays for goods being shipped by air freight. However, the Association’s Director General recognised that there are many factors which could still prevent the runway actually being built, from environmental restrictions to a future change in Government.
