The economy in Poland is growing at such a rate that there is a huge increase in demand for domestic haulage. This growth is partly fuelled by the number of factories being built there by international companies, who are attracted by cheaper land and labour costs.  A few months ago, domestic haulage rates in Poland were relatively low, as there was over-capacity in the market, but the increase in demand has meant that haulage rates have increased significantly.  This means that it is now more viable to carry freight from Western Europe by rail to the Polish hub in Katowice, from where cargo can be transhipped to Moscow.
