Freight volumes to eastern European countries are increasing with the export of essentially British products like tea and bottled ale.  This increase is partly due to a major British supermarket chain opening a more than 100 stores in Poland.  Many migrant workers from Eastern Europe develop a liking for British food and drink whilst working here, and then take their tastes home with them when they return to visit or to live.  This is helping smaller UK companies to develop their export markets and remain independent of their bigger competitors.  Scotch whisky is still a big export, as drinkers in Asia prefer it to the cheaper local brands.
