The total volume of Moldova’s railway, road, river, and air freight traffic grew by 23.8% in 2017 compared with the previous year, reaching some 17.3 million tonnes, the country’s statistical office said last week.

Calculated in freight tonne-kilometres (FTK), traffic increased 13.7% on the year to some 4.630 million FTK during 2017, the National Bureau of Statistics (BNS) said in a monthly transport sector report.

In December alone, the volume of Moldova’s freight traffic fell by 17.4% on the month, but increased by 15.1% on the year, to 1.5 million tonnes.
