The leading retail chains in France have signed a protocol with the country’s rail network manager to study how the sector can transfer its freight from road to rail.  The initial stage is to study the technical and economic viability of launching combined transport services between western and northern France and Lyon from next year.  If the results are positive, then retail shipper will appoint logistics and rail freight providers to operate the services.
