Stevedores in Finland returned to work at the weekend after the strike ended on Friday.  There is a huge backlog of cargo waiting to be unloaded at the ports, and Government ministers fear that Finland has lost its reputation for reliable freight operations.  For this reason, the Prime Minister thinks that Finland should consider the possibility of limiting the right to strike by certain key sectors.  This would certainly be supported by the Confederation of Finnish Industry (the EK), which stated that there was nothing in the mediation agreement to justify the stoppage of all Finland’s exports.
