Some harbour operators and logisitics providers in Finland are worried that the stevedores strike will jeopardize their transit traffic to Russia and the Baltic States.  Importers and exporters have avoided shipping to St Petersburg direct because of the cumbersome Russian bureaucracy. Rumours in the industry now suggest that Russian and Baltic ports are targetting the transit traffic which cannot currently move through Finnish ports.  The strikes still continue in Finland; discussions will take place at 1300 today with the aid of the Government arbitrator.
