A report recently published for Sustainable Glasgow is suggesting that using trams for freight may be a viable option.  Road freight and personal transport produces 19% of the city’s CO2 emissions, and the report is looking into the feasibility of using trams for city centre transport.  The idea has been tentatively suggested that freight could operate on a ‘park and ride’ system, with cargo coming on road trucks to depots outside the city, and being transferred ton to trams for city centre deliveries.
