On 3 December the famous Trafalgar Square Christmas tree was unveiled. The tree, which is 50 to 60 years old, was chosen from a forest outside Oslo, and was felled in November. It is a gift from the people of Oslo to the people of London as a thank you for the help which Britain gave to Norway during the Second World War. Norway also donates similar trees to Washington DC and Edinburgh. The tree was shipped from Brevik to Immingham and taken to London by truck.
