A number of large freight forwarding companies are finding that customers are switching all types of cargo from air to sea freight.  The traditionally air freight shippers, such as pharmaceuticals and perishables, have been adapting their supply chains so that they can benefit from the cheaper cost of going by sea. Commentators think that it is unlikely that cargo will move back to air on a regular basis once the economy recovers, but that air freight will be used as an emergency measure when stocks become unexpectedly low.
