The port of Turku in Finland is taking the opportunity to invest in expansion while construction costs are low.  Two distribution centres are being built in the Ovako port sector, and the Pansio port zone is being expanded.  So far, imports to Finland have not been affected by the global recession, but all exports are down, particularly the metal industry.  The seaports of Finland have grown by about 5% over the pat decade, but throughput at Turku fell by 16% last year.
