The Chinese government has released plans to develop further the province of Guangdong, which has been the main producer and exporter of consumer goods destined for the West.  The government is determined to maintain growth in the ace of falling demand, and has ambitious plans to concentrate more on high tech industries and higher value products.  Shenzen, Guanghzou and the other cities of Guangdong province will be at the centre of the development of the new logistics infrastructure, which will promote more efficient shipping and forwarding functions.  The government is also hoping to co-operate more closely with Hong Kong.
