The Road Haulage Association has been meeting with the Scottish Government to discuss ways of improving the road freight’s response to winter weather. Measures being considered are use of winter tyres, short term stacking of lorries to allow snow clearing, gritting major roads and specific messaging for HGV drivers.  The Finance Secretary and Transport Minister had a productive meeting on Tuesday with the Road Haulage Association and Freight Transport Association to consider how the freight industry can contribute to ensuring that Scotland is better prepared for future severe weather.
