With many main airports closed in the UK, and more heavy snow forecast for the North East of England and Scotland, international freight forwarders are struggling to continue their services. the port of Dover is using ‘Operation Stack’ as snow is reducing access to the port by freight and container lorries. The port of Immingham, which operates sailings to Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland is operating on a skeleton staff, as road conditions have been preventing port workers from getting to their jobs. Snow has also affected most of the countries of Northern Europe, preventing freight traffic from negotiating the roads in Belgium, Germany and France with delays on all major roads.
