Ethiopian Airlines has expanded its global cargo network with the launch of a new dedicated air freighter service between Chengdu, China, and its hub in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. This new route marks the first direct all-cargo air link between the Chinese city and the African continent, strengthening trade connectivity between the two regions.

The inaugural service represents a significant milestone in Sino-African logistics, offering shippers a faster and more reliable option for transporting goods between China and Africa. Chengdu, one of China’s most important economic and industrial centres in the western region, will now benefit from direct access to Ethiopian Airlines’ extensive African cargo network via Addis Ababa.

The new freighter connection is expected to support growing bilateral trade volumes, particularly in sectors such as e-commerce, electronics, textiles, and perishables. By eliminating the need for transhipment through other Asian or Middle Eastern hubs, the route will reduce transit times and enhance supply chain efficiency for businesses operating across both markets.
