An incident occurred recently at DP World’s Antwerp Gateway terminal in the Port of Antwerp-Bruges, where four containers fell during routine container handling operations.

The containers reportedly landed onto a bunkering tanker that was moored alongside the terminal at the time of the incident. Operations at the terminal were temporarily affected as emergency response teams assessed the situation and ensured the safety of personnel on site.

The Port of Antwerp-Bruges remains one of Europe’s busiest maritime gateways, handling vast quantities of containerised cargo each year. Incidents of this nature, while rare, highlight the importance of stringent safety protocols across all terminal operations.

Further details regarding the cause of the incident and any potential impact on cargo movements through the terminal are expected to be released by port authorities in due course.
