Ocean carriers and terminal operators at Sri Lanka’s Colombo Port are grappling with significant operational disruptions following a three-day shutdown triggered by Cyclone Ditwah. The cyclone, reported to be the most powerful storm to impact Sri Lanka in nearly a decade, has created substantial challenges for the maritime logistics sector.

The prolonged closure has resulted in vessel backlogs, cargo delays, and widespread supply chain disruptions across Southeast Asia’s shipping networks. Port authorities and stakeholders are working to restore normal operations and clear the accumulated congestion.
