According to the Port of Rotterdam, Europe’s busiest port, carriers returning to the Red Sea route can expect to face several months of port congestion. This forecast is based on the chaotic aftermath that followed the Ever Given incident in 2021, when the vessel blocked the Suez Canal for six days.

The port authorities anticipate that the sudden influx of vessels and the resulting disruptions to shipping schedules will lead to significant congestion and delays in the coming months. As a leading freight forwarding company, RW Freight is closely monitoring the situation and working to minimize the impact on our clients’ supply chains by providing timely updates and exploring alternative routing options.
