According to recent industry data, the demand for Ultra Large Container Vessels (ULCVs) has experienced a significant decline. Shipping companies are adapting to evolving trade routes. Many companies are now favouring smaller, more versatile vessels to accommodate these changes in trade patterns.
Data from Braemar indicates that only six container vessels with capacities exceeding 17,000 TEUs are planned for 2025, while 83 mid-sized ships with capacities ranging from 7,000 to 17,000 TEUs are in the pipeline. This shift in vessel preference reflects the industry’s response to the dynamic nature of global trade and the need for flexibility in shipping operations.
