Hundreds of shipping containers were on fire at Turkey’s Iskenderun Port on Tuesday, which shut down operations and forced freight lines to divert vessels to other ports.

Turkey’s maritime authority said that the port, was damaged due to the earthquake that struck Turkey and Syria.

Drone footage showed flames blackening hundreds of containers on the docl. Thick black smoke billowed into the sky.

A Turkish shipping agency Tribeca said that on Tuesday some cargo areas of Limak port at the Iskenderun complex were still on fire. The terminal was closed to all operations until further notice.
