According to shipping and freight industry leaders, shutdowns for the Chinese New Year and China’s Covid-19 outbreak are expected to cause renewed supply chain shortages in Britain and Europe.

Many goods are likely to be the subject of shortages this spring, because of a combination of falling demand in Europe and a fall in exports leaving ports. China is having an earlier-than-usual Lunar New Year holiday and coronavirus cases are increasing. According to one estimate, deaths in China could reach nearly 40,000 a day by the end of this month.
