The Japanese government is planning to work with domestic companies to test new international supply routes, aiming to diversify freight options in response to recent supply chain instability.

International events have caused delays and a rise in transport costs so the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism intends to ensure a reliable freight system by using alternative shipping and train links to reach the USA and Europe.
