Chongqing in South West China launched a cross-border highway freight route to Nepal this week. It is the first cross-border highway freight route from Chongqing to South Asia.
Freight lorries loaded with micro tillers departed from Chongqing Nanpeng Highway Bonded Logistics Center. They will leave China through Zhangmu Port in the Tibet and finally arrive in Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal.
The journey is about 3,500 kilometers and will take about five to eight days. This route should be more than a month shorter than sea freight.
It will connect Nepal to inland areas of western China and promote economic and trade exchanges.
