Shippers who are coping with record-high fuel surcharges must simply bear with it until more (and cheaper) crude oil is available, according to diesel supply experts.
Diesel prices may remain high longer than gasoline prices as diesel inventories have fallen to multiyear lows.
“The fluctuation in the price of fuel has a big impact on the shipping and shipping logistics industries,” said the CEO of a third-party freight bill payment company. “As costs continue to rise, carriers are having to take losses or raise their shipping prices.”
