Portugal’s economy minister has spoken about the effecrts of Brexit on Portugal.
He said “Some exports have been very adversely affected,” he said: “Brexit has had an adverse impact, of course . . . For Portugal, Brexit was not good news”.
Diplomatic efforts are underway to rebuild the relationship and agree new trade deals, to reinvoke the spirit of the Anglo-Portuguese Alliance, which is the oldest diplomatic alliance in the world still in force.
Britain historically is Portugal’s oldest ally.
