A NEW southern freight service operating in and out of France is being launched by a company in St Malo. A large cargo ship may arrive in Jersey three times a week.
A new vessel, the 55-metre Norwegian-built Southern Liner, arrived in St Malo at the end of last week. The firm plan to use it to transport freight regularly to Jersey and Guernsey.
The ship can carry up to 800 tonnes of freight.
Wholesalers in Normandy and Brittany have expressed interest in exporting produce and products directly to Jersey.
