Increasing numbers of haulage companies are shipping goods on unaccompanied trailers. Ports on the western Channel in France, the UK and Ireland are set-up to receive these loads.

There are other financial benefits in shipping driverless. All ferry companies have reported reduced freight volumes in January, partly as a consequence of companies stocking up in December pre-Brexit, but the proportion of unaccompanied trailers is increasing.
