A new rail freight service from Jinhua to Dourges, in France has been initiated.
Freight forwarders are warning of congestion on overland freight routes, as rail freight becomes more popular.
The first train on the new route left Jinhua on 26 November with 22 full containers. It arrived in Dourges 18 days later, travelling via Kazakhstan, Russia, Belarus and Germany on the 11,000 km journey. The containers will go on to Belgium, the Netherlands, Spain and Italy.
As global supply chains experience unprecedented demand for transport and logistics services, it is hoped this new service will relieve congestion.
