China is increasing its efforts to improve the service capability of China-Europe rail freight, providing extra freight services to compensate for the disruption caused by COVID-19. Demand is rising for freight trains as the COVID-19 outbreak has hampered international air and sea transport.

The National Reform and Development Commission will work with other departments and local governments to accelerate the construction of key ports, resolve transportation bottlenecks and speed up the construction of the demonstration projects of the China-Europe rail freight assembly centre.
