A new weekly shuttle service has been commenced by a Norwegian rail freight operator to link Oslo, the capital of Norway, to the Port of Gothenburg, claiming to offer a ‘rapid, dependable, climate-smart link’ to the largest port in Scandinavia.
The service will operate initially once a week in each direction. It is estimated that this will remove 2,000 freight lorries from road to rail, with a resulting reduction in carbon emissions of over 700 tonnes per year.
