May trading figures show the disruption caused by Covid-19, with UK pork exports recording a 2% decline on the year. Meanwhile, UK imports continued to be below last year’s volumes.

Fresh and frozen pork volumes showed 2% decline in May, which could have been caused by challenges in sourcing shipping containers, particularly refrigerated ones.

Exports to China continued to rise, although at a lower level than has been seen in recent months. During May, UK exports of pig meat (including offal) to China increased by 42% on the year, with export values down by the month.
