Businesses shipping goods in and out of China may experience a doubling of airfreight rates as limited capacity is available due to airlines cutting airfreight services because of coronavirus.

Rates for shipping cargo from Frankfurt Airport to Shanghai Pudong Airport increased to 2.55 euros ($2.75) per kg last week from 0.86 euros/kg the previous week.
This may complicate efforts by companies to re-activate Asian supply chains.

The rate increase will soon be reflected in outbound freight measures.
