In the first half of the year import and export trade figures reached a record at Rotterdam. The largest port in Europe handled more container goods and imports of oil and liquefied natural gas (LNG) rose.

Total freight throughput in Rotterdam grew 3.4% to a record level of 240.7 million tonnes, container traffic increasing by 5%. Rising imports of U.S. oil increased crude oil traffic by 3%.
