In 2018, Russia imported 125 times more apples than it exported. Imports amounted to 844,000 tons of apples exports were only 11.700 tons.

The largest apple exports to Russia were from Serbia (20.7%) and Moldova (20.5%). China was the third largest exporter at 16.5%. Russia also imported fresh apples from the Islamic Republic of Iran, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Chile, Belarus, the Republic of South Africa, Argentina, Brazil, New Zealand, Macedonia and other countries.
