The USA government said that it is in the process of considering whether to increase the proposed import tariff on some goods from China to 25 percent from 10 percent.
Last month they released a list of thousands of Chinese products on which they wish to impose 10 percent in tariffs, ranging from television components to handbags and seafood to baseball gloves.
The import duties could take effect once the revised final list of imports has been established following a public comment period. The comment period has been extended to Sept. 5 from late August.
The first wave of 25 percent tariffs on $34 billion of Chinese imports took effect last month. There was an immediate retaliation from China. The next set of tariffs may be implemented by the U.S. in the coming days or weeks.
