New figures from the Central Statistics Office of Ireland show that 8,671 used cars were imported into the country in April, compared with 7,272 for the same time last year.
For the first four months of 2018, the number of used cars imports to Ireland has risen by 10.8% to 33,377.
The significant fall in the value of sterling against the Euro has made it much more lucrative for Irish secondhand car buyers to travel to the United Kingdom to buy a car.
The Euro reached an eight-year high of 92.6p last summer.
