Plans to build a multimillion-pound rail freight interchange, which could support 7,500 jobs, is going before Northampton councillors. Developers want to build the depot and warehousing on a 116 acre (468,000 sq m) site at junction 15 of the M1, south of Northampton.

The site would also include container storage, lorry parking and rail sidings to serve each warehouse.

The Northampton Gateway Strategic Rail Freight Interchange will also go before South Northamptonshire Council on 30 November before the Planning Inspectorate makes a final decision early next year.
