The UK’s goods exports were disappointing in the three months to July, despite the fall in the sterling exchange rate, official figures released on Friday showed.

The volume of exports was up 1.2 per cent on the previous quarter, the weakest increase since last October, the Office for National Statistics reported.

Goods imports rose 1.4 per cent over the same three-month period.
