There is strong opposition to the Delhi-Mumbai Freight Corridor, because it will cause large-scale tree-felling at Sanjay Gandhi National Park. Environmentalists are demanding that the corridor be realigned. The freight corridor, which is part of the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor, is likely to cause the felling of 12 000 trees.

Environmental campaigners say a fine balance is required between development and conserving the environment, and are demanding a restriction of the freight corridor from Dadri to Nhava Sheva to save the environment and boost trade.
