The freight industry is welcoming plans to investigate the reasons for a shortage of professional drivers in the freight sector, announced by the Transport Select Committee.
The Inquiry will investigate whether the Government has taken any action to remedy the shortage of skilled drivers, and whether its response has been effective.
The Freight Transport Association has been warning that the freight industry is facing long term challenges to attract and recruit drivers. They have been emphasising the problems facing the logistics sector in attracting recruits to the haulage industry.
